Carla Morrow is a Certified Nurse-Midwife who has spent over twenty years providing care to women and their families. Carla earned a master’s degree in nursing from Texas Christian University in 2004, a post master’s certificate as a women’s health nurse practitioner from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 2006. Her desire to become a midwife started while working in the nurse practitioner role as she soon recognized she missed attending women during labor and birth. She then pursued midwifery by getting her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Baylor University in 2010.
Carla is an accomplished entrepreneur having established a hospital midwifery service in Cleburne, Texas and founding Fort Worth Birthing & Wellness Center. She enjoys the business side of things as well as designing and creating sustainable midwifery practices that will be around for years to come. Carla also enjoys providing a wide range of women’s health care services. “I look for community-based experiences where I can really get in and get to know people and their families”. “My main goal is to care for women throughout their life and the various stages of health issues they may encounter.” After working several years as a midwife in busy practices, attending over 1800 births, and managing a variety of clinical situations it became clear to her that she could better serve women by offering intimate personalized care in a hospital setting. She is passionate about empowering women and their families through education and enjoys assisting them in making positive health care decisions based on research, individual risk factors, and life philosophy. Carla has been married to her husband Shawn for 26 years. Together they enjoy spending time with their children and visiting their family farm in Rising Star, Texas.

Johanna Congleton, DNP, CNM
Johanna Congleton Bodine’s desire to serve women and children began early in life. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Texas Tech University in 2007 (Wreck Em’!). After college she was able to compassionately serve women in her role as a labor and delivery nurse at one of the busiest high-risk hospitals in the country. As a nurse she was able to support women during some of their most life-changing moments. It was there she had the opportunity to work alongside Certified Nurse-Midwives in the hospital setting and learned to appreciate a less medicalized birth experience. She was able to take her nursing skills to remote villages along the Amazon River and provide care to the underserved with her church. She was inspired to go back to school and truly achieve the calling of becoming a Nurse-Midwife.
In 2013 Johanna received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Midwifery from Baylor University and has enjoyed serving the women of DFW since entering private practice in 2014.
Johanna believes that every woman deserves a midwife. Her goal is to build trust and ensure women feel heard and respected. As a midwife Johanna collaborates and walks alongside women to support them in their healthcare choices.
Johanna is married to her wonderful husband David and they live in Flower Mound along with their dachshund, Auggie. Since becoming a midwife, Johanna has become a mom herself. She welcomed her son Oliver in 2017 and most recently her second son Reed in 2018. Both of these boys were born in the hospital setting unmedicated with the support of a great birth team. She wants women to know that birthing in the hospital does not preclude them from having a wonderful birth experience. Johanna loves any opportunity to try new restaurants, go to a Rangers game, or just have a glass of wine with friends.
Meagan Whitehurst, MSN, CNM

Meagan was born in Arkansas and grew up in East Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas-Arlington and began her career in Women’s Services gaining experience in Lactation, Newborn Nursery, Labor & Delivery and Postpartum care. Meagan was drawn to women’s health during the birth of her son and her work supporting women as a labor and delivery nurse. She fell in love with midwifery and began her training working with midwives while living on the Big Island, Hawaii. There she witnessed less intervention leading to safer, healthier births and saw how powerful a fully supported mother can be. In 2015 she returned to Texas to earn her Master of Science in Nursing-Midwifery from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Meagan enjoys working with women to provide education from preconception through childbirth and postpartum as well as gynecology care including well-women visits, birth control consults, sexual health, and other gynecologic concerns.
